A Valuable American Pinkie

After losing his left pinkie to a grenade in Iraq, Marine Cooper Brannan was still able to achieve of his dream of being a baseball player and will be pitching in minor league despite his “handicap”.

When I read this story this morning I couldn’t but think how many in Iraq lost more than a pinkie in Bush’s revenge war and how many more Iraqis will lose more every day to come. The difference between them and Brannan is that they can’t go to the US and be glorified as injured war heroes. The difference between them and Brannan is that they will never achieve their dreams as their lives became a continuous nightmare.

When I read such stories, I cannot but feel sorry for the worthless lives in Iraq. When did one digit become more valuable than a whole human being? What a sad world we live in.
