More Movies…

I had a two-week leave and came back to work yesterday.
The second my alarm went off yesterday morning, I moaned and thought of 1000 reasonable excuses not to go to work. And I thought after my leave I would be revitalized and looking forward to being enslaved again. Apparently not!
The same happened this morning, with one obvious exception: I didn’t come early but on time!!

During the last two weeks and on the days that I was neither sick or shopping (I was in bed for a week and still have the remains of the flu, and I’m completely and utterly broke) I saw lots of movies in theatre (not to mention the ones I saw on DVDs.)

I’m fully saturated at the moment.
I could even tell you what ads they keep playing before each movie and in order. They are:
1. Axiom’s Difference Back Guarantee on Nokia phones… The one that promotes bullying and that tells the world if you are a browbeater you can get away with anything!!
2. Escalade’s rocking the catwalk….lovely car, simple ad.
3. Christina Aguilera’s Pepsi ad with Elisa in the background…or is it a Motorola ad??? So confusing when you see the Motorola logo more than the Pepsi one!

The holiday started with deciding with Hiba to watch The Benchwarmers over Posidon. It was a disaster. Hiba almost cried from the pain caused watching Schneider & Spade repeat old jokes and ones that involved many bodily functions suitable for the toilets. The movie surely stank like a public urinal frequented by truck drivers!!

Since the kids are around, I took them to see The Wild which was much better than The Benchwarmers but definitely a bore. But the kids like it, so if you have kids, take them!

Zane wanted to watch She’s The Man, so we went to see it especially that I started to develop a craving for the chocolate crepe they serve at the theaters! The movie, though has an expected storyline, got some laughs out of me. My honest verdict: it’s a good chick movie to watch on video when you have your gals around and have nothing better to do.

I took the kids out again for another movie. This time it was Over The Hedge which was an improvement to the previous animation. It’s a good kids movie, that won’t bore the adult guardian to death!

A day after that I got to see a real movie: Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man’s Chest. It was so weird to go to a movie theatre with so many other people. I somehow got used to going to empty cinemas that I forgot how it feels to go and see a movie with a crowd!! After whistling when Depp came on screen, I managed to keep my chocolate crepe recently digested in my stomach. Some scenes especially at the beginning were stomach turning!! But the movie is a MUST SEE. It’s funny, thrilling, ghastly, horrifying (well for some people!!!), and it has three beautiful people (Depp, Bloom & Knightley), what more can any decent movie goer ask for?!!

Then I decided it’s time to bond with my nephews, so I took them to The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift even though I didn’t see the previous two in the series. I was amazed. Not for the acting, nor for the storyline. But for the great great races. I had an adrenalin rush and kept thinking how can I drift with my large car?!! Now if I had the Cayman, drifting would be easy! Mind you, I wouldn’t try it with a Cayman if I knew I’d have to pay the repairs!! Great movie for the guys and girls like me :)

On my last day of leave I decided to go and watch a movie alone. Since I almost saw every movie showing at the moment (not counting the Arabic ones) and since the only movie showing at 2:00 pm was Undiscovered, I got a small popcorn (I’ve decided to quit the Chocolate Crepes!!) and a drink and went to watch the movie in an almost empty theatre (almost as a couple walked in 10 mins after the movie started and were entertaining each other than watching the film!!). I can’t describe how HORRIBLE it was. I’d watch The Benchwarmers again and not watch this one. It’s one movie (with all of its actors, if you can even call them “actors”) that should stay “undiscovered”!!!

till i waste another thirty dirhams on a movie...
without wax!
