Two Weeks in a Post
I’ve been super busy the last two weeks that I am totally exhausted both mentally and physically. But there are many things that happened that needs to be blogged about! So this is the summary!
The Tajweed
I’m learning how to read Quraan properly. I meet with few ladies once a week and it’s FUN. If you want to laugh, just meet with Egyptian women with sense of humor. Learning was never this good! Especially that I can pronounce better than them!! LOL.
Mixed Signals
I was getting confused by someone’s interest in me. My best two friends, Rania and Asif, thought that I was simply mean, nasty, arrogant, stubborn and simply don’t know what is good for me. At the rate they were going, you’d swear they were my parents who want to get rid of me. I used to tell them that they are misunderstanding the signals, that there is no interest. After all, I’m not Charlize Theron. Again, they’d swear at me.
So I devised a plan to clear the chaos of signals. It was called operating “Opening the Door”.
Bad name!
The door slammed into my face that I’m still bruised!
Looking at the bright side (the one not bruised), both Asif and Rania apologized and confessed that I was right, and there was definitely No Interest!
Barbie Q
Ghizlan invited the Girls for a BBQ on a Friday. Since she insisted that we shouldn’t bring anything and all the others were talking about bringing sweets, I thought I would be different!
I was up at 7 am and downloaded some fun recipes off the net to make grilled corn, potato wedges and tomato halves. Of course I didn’t wake up early just for that. I had to finish some work (way after their deadlines) so that I can have the time later in the day to go to a local wedding (just to placate my mom).
When my dad saw me reading a recipe for corn on the cub, he believed without any doubt that I’m useless in the kitchen. I defended myself saying this not just grilling corn, it’s an art. Yeah. Whatever.
After a couple of hours at Ghizlan’s, I asked her when we will start barbequing. She told me that her mom has already started.
To my disappointment, her mom started with the meat and left my stuff for later on. By the time the hungry lionesses I was with gobbled the grilled meat, whatever I served, was simply too late. Not to mention that the wedges never made it to the table as they were going to take forever to be grilled on the dying coal.
For a moment there I thought I was as clueless and hopeless as Barbie (more probably Fulla!) on the grill. I should stick to what I know best: ordering food!
Test Drive Becomes a Hobby!
I went back to Porsche.
Aminah came with me this time.
I got into the Cayman S, as the salesperson told me that he is getting one himself.
I could feel the power just holding the steering wheel.
The minute I hit the road, Aminah kept telling me to slow down. Not that I actually sped with all the traffic. But the urge to change lanes and go faster was so strong and overwhelming that I told her to not very politely to shut up.
I reached Emirates Mall and stopped the car. I told her she HAS to try driving it.
Aminah is not into sports car. She loves BIG SUV’s. Her dream car is the Hummer.
She drove us back to the showroom. During the drive, she became a convert. She now wants a sports car! And like me, the urge to change lanes was powerful.
Oh and we got attention from lots of cars, including a Bentley Continental GTC! AAAAAH!
When I saw the salesman again, I told him I loved the car. That’s when he broke the bad news to me. They have reached their quota for 2006. I can’t get any Cayman now and have to wait for 2007!! I mean, man, I was ready with the full amount in CASH in my purse and he tells me I can’t get it now!! Darn!! LOL!
While thinking seriously about ordering the 2007 Cayman S, as now I might have the chance to start saving for the down payment, we took the Cayenne S for a spin!
Now Cayenne S is a real Luxury SUV. Aminah drove it first then I took it back to the showroom. It was LOVELY, but in a very mature way. It is a car for my parents, not for two young attractive girls!
From now on, all gifts should be CASH only and I also accept all donations for the worthy and noble cause of me owning a Cayman S. The bigger the donation, the bigger the picture I send you of me in the car! :)
No More Manil!
Manil is no longer working with the company starting last Wednesday. I think it was one of the saddest days in my professional life. It’s a great loss. He is funny, smart, a proper gentleman, and a friend you wouldn’t want to lose. He was the one I moaned to, joked freely with, and yet respected his knowledge and work ethics. Having to come to work the second day, knowing that he won’t be in the office was simply depressing.
Manil (if you are reading) you are missed greatly and not just because you actually bring what I need from London!!!
Till my next blog…which I promise will be soon…
Without Wax!
